TITLE: First-Line Supervisors/Managers of Hospitality and Personal Service Workers

DEFINITION: Directly supervise and coordinate activities of hospitality and personal service workers. Manager/Supervisors are generally found in smaller establishments where they perform both supervisory and management functions, such as accounting, marketing, and personnel work, and may also engage in the same hospitality and personal service work as the workers they supervise. Exclude work leaders who spend 20 percent or more of their time at tasks similar to those of employees under their supervision and include them in the occupations which are most closely related to their specific duties.

    TASKS:

    1. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in lodging and personal services.

    2. Observes and evaluates workers' appearance and performance to ensure quality service and compliance with specifications.

    3. Assigns work schedules, following work requirements, to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.

    4. Trains workers in proper operational procedures and functions, and explains company policy.

    5. Resolves customer complaints regarding worker performance and services rendered.

    6. Collaborates with personnel to plan and develop programs of events, schedules of activities, and menus.

    7. Analyzes and records personnel and operational data and writes activity reports.

    8. Inspects work areas and operating equipment to ensure conformance to established standards.

    9. Requisitions supplies, equipment, and designated services, to ensure quality and timely service and efficient operations.

    10. Informs workers about interests of specific groups.

    11. Furnishes customers with information on events and activities.
