TITLE: Nursing Directors
DEFINITION: Plan, direct, and coordinate facilities or programs providing nursing care or instructional programs related to nursing.
TASKS:
1. Plans curricula and schedules health education instruction training and counseling for nursing school, in-service, and community programs.
2. Plans, directs, and administers nursing services or educational programs in health care facilities.
3. Establishes and revises policies and procedures, such as selection, performance, and compensation standards, organizational objectives, and medical and maintenance procedures.
4. Prepares budget and administers health care programs and services within budgetary limitations.
5. Recruits, interviews, selects, and assigns nursing and health services staff, faculty and students.
6. Conducts studies and site visits to assess program needs and evaluate the cost-effectiveness and efficiency of existing services.
7. Prepares, maintains, and updates nursing policy and procedure manuals.
8. Establishes records management systems for health services, patients, staff, and nursing students.

10. Directs collection, analysis, and interpretation of health service and utilization statistics.
11. Acts as liaison between health care institution or facility and community to promote cooperative relationships and plan integrated programming.
