TITLE: Textile Draw-Out Machine Operators and Tenders
DEFINITION: Operate or tend machines, such as slubber machines and drawing frames, that draw out and combine sliver, such as wool, hemp, synthetic, and blended sliver, preparatory to further processing.
1. Sets controls to adjust machine and regulate weight of fiber on conveyer, according to written instructions.
2. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions while machine stretches, strengthens, mixes, combs, draws, or combines textile fibers.
3. Threads filament, fiber, or sliver through guides, ties filament to previously threaded filaments, or deposits fibers onto automatic feeder of machine.
4. Stops machine to remove processed fibers, unclog rollers, repair breaks in filaments, or replace fiber supply.
5. Positions cans, coils, or balls of textile filament or sliver at feeding area of draw-out or combining machine.
6. Inspects, weighs, sorts, and grades finished fiber.
7. Notifies repair personnel when machine malfunctions.
8. Records production data, marks finished fibers, and writes identification tickets.
9. Cuts, wraps, and packs bundles of batting or fiber.
10. Cleans and lubricates machines, using airhose, brushes, and oil.
