TITLE: Foundry Mold Assembly and Shakeout Workers
DEFINITION: Prepare molds for pouring. Duties include: Cleaning and assembling foundry molds, and tending machine that bonds cope and drag together to form completed shell mold.
TASKS:
1. Cleans sand from casting or mold, using airhose and brush.
2. Assembles core to drag and cope.
3. Monitors operation of machines that extract cast core pipe or bond cope and drag to form shell mold.
4. Strikes end of core pipe to loosen baked sand between casting and core pipe and secures pipe to dolly jaws.
5. Knocks out sprue holes, using iron rod.
6. Positions drag, cope, and bonding agent onto pressure plate of machine.
7. Manipulates controls to start machines or adjusts temperature or pressure settings.
