Observes recording-instrument charts, flowmeters, and gauges to verify conformity of temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and liquid levels to process specifications. Correlates instrument readings and test results to diagnose process malfunctions. Inspects equipment and cathodic-protection system to detect defects and malfunctions. May be designated according to product as Butadiene Operator, Chief (chemical; petrol. refin.); Ethylbenzene-Cracking Supervisor (chemical; petrol. refin.); Isobutylene Operator, Chief (chemical); Styrene Operator, Chief (chemical; petrol. refin.). Performs other duties as described under SUPERVISOR (any industry) Master Title.
