Sorts crabs according to stages of shell development and dumps them into open tanks containing sea water. Starts pumps to aerate water and maintain constant flow of sea water through tanks. Observes crabs to ascertain when they begin to shed their brittle outer shell. Holds shell being shed, when necessary, to assist emerging crab that gets hung in shell during molting. Gathers freshly emerged soft-shell crabs and places them in containers for shipment to market.
